The Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Shlomo Amar paid an unforgettable visit to Sulam today. The Rav expressed great interest in the various therapies used in Sulam programs. Rav Amar spent time with Rabbi Dovid Ernster, the man who has devoted his life to the Sulam special education organization, so that children who face such difficult challenges in life can achieve and lead a fulfilling and happy life.
After visiting therapeutic communications classrooms, and watching true professionals at work, the Chief Rabbi was deeply impressed. He also inspected the almost completed Therapy Center located in Jerusalem.
When the children learned that the Chief Rabbi of Israel had come to visit them, they ran towards him with open arms, pleading “Rabbi, bless us’! The Rabbi’s kind eyes looked lovingly into each child’s eyes, as he bestowed his loving blessings for good health and continued progress. The Rabbi’s heartfelt words. “It is very moving to see the wonderful work of Sulam, which brings redemption and merit for generations to come. As it is written - to save even one Jewish life is considered as saving the entire world, and here in SULAM hundreds of lives are being saved. These children are pure souls who are beloved of the Almighty, and thus whoever helps them merits greatly,” the Rav concluded.
While in SULAM the Rabbi participated in a workshop for parents of new pupils. Rav Amar empathized with the difficulties, and complex decisions facing the parents, and encouraged them to do the right thing and provide their children with the chance for growth and progress offered by SULAM. “Today, I registered my baby in the therapeutic day care program. I know that SULAM is the right place for him. But, as I filled out the form, I could not stop crying. When Rabbi Amar lifted him up and blessed him with all his heart and soul, my heart felt lighter. I am hopeful that here in SULAM, he will grow and develop to be the most he can be.”
