Sulam began in 1981 when Mrs Faigy Ernster accepted a child with special needs into her private playgroup. Soon after she began to receive requests from more parents of children with special needs and she realized a more specialized framework was needed. She began the process of hiring professional staff and acquiring the various permits and licenses necessary.
From a small playgroup run by a woman with a great heart, Sulam has grown into a leading network of schools and therapeutic centers which stand at the head of special education in Israel.
Sulam currently has twelve branches, with 620 professional staff members, and 20 volunteers, servicing over 530 children aged 6 months – 17 years.
Students with a range of challenges benefit from our programs. This includes intellectual and learning disabilities, motor dysfunction, emotional and developmental delays, Autism Spectrum disorder (ASD), Down syndrome and combinations thereof.
